James P. Gapinski, 76, of Gilman MN, lost his battle with cancer on December 19th 2022 at his home. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, MN. Rev. Matthew Langager will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9 - 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at church. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Service with Dignity provided by Foley Funeral Home.
James (Jim) was born on August 6, 1946 and was a graduate of Foley High School, class of 1964. He married his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Herman) on September 23rd 1967, and started a family that grows still today. Jim spent most of his adult life as an over-the-road truck driver and independent business owner. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was working at home with his family in the flower gardens and their koi pond. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings and cooking for a crowd. He spent winters in Arizona and trips to the casino with his wife Barb and youngest son Scott along with extended family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who lived life to the fullest and loved his family more than anything.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Barb, his children Paul (Cathy), Jared (Molly), Jamie (Andrea), Kristie (Steve) and Scott; his grandchildren Kyle (Kallie), Alicia, Brittany, Zack (Megan), Morgan, Dawson, Reegan, Wren, Reilly, Mollie, Josalyn (Ryan), Conner; great grandchildren Brielle, Daxton (expecting).
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Agnes Gapinski, three brothers, Joey, Al and Danny, sister Margie and many in-laws. Jim, also known to many as “Big Jim”, will be dearly missed.
