Wilma Dziuk, age 85, of Foley, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, Foley. The Rev. Allen Jergenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Ronneby Riverside Cemetery, Ronneby, MN.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 Tuesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Prayer services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.
Wilma Dziuk was born July 14, 1925 in Grantsburg, WI to Walter and Esther (Ketcham) Freude. Wilma graduated from Foley High School in 1943 after which she attended business college in St. Cloud. Wilma's first job was working for the FBI in Washington, DC. as a fingerprint analyst. Wilma then moved back to Foley and worked at Hall's Mercantile. She then moved to Chicago to work as a riveter in the Douglas Aircraft Factory where she worked on transport planes. Wilma moved to Fairbanks, Alaska to work as a secretary for the US Air Force. While in Alaska, Wilma flew to Point Barrow, the farthest point north in the United States. After leaving Alaska, Wilma moved to New York City where she lived in what is known as Hell's Kitchen. While there she worked on Madison Avenue in the advertising department of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. She moved back to Foley and worked for the Morgan Flaherty Law Office as a secretary and also served as a clerk for Benton Co., Selective Service during the Korean War. Wilma married Rodney Dzuik on June 1, 1953 at First Presbyterian Church and worked with Rodney and his sister, Bertha at the Foley Rexall Drug until their retirement in 1985. Wilma was active in the church and was involved in the Lioness and the Better Business Bureau. She enjoyed puzzles, bird watching and reading.
She is survived by her sons and daughters; Jenny (Jake) Bauerly, Sauk Rapids, MN; Jason (Barb), Foley, MN; Margaret (Dan) Hayes, Pierz, MN; Thad (Cathy), Duluth; Jonathon (Maggie), Houston, TX, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Gwen Freude, Bemidji, MN; and brother-in-law, David Dziuk, Alexandria, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rodney, February 7, 2001 and brother, Dan.
