Verda Anderson, age 97 of Foley, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, Foley. The Rev. Allen Jergenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Graham United Methodist Cemetery, Graham Township.
Friends may call from 10 AM to 1 PM Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Foley.  Arrangements were made  by the Foley Funeral Home.
Verda Anderson was born May 6, 1916 in Viborg, South Dakota to Samuel and Mary (Johnson) Christensen. She married Ellsworth Anderson on August 25, 1937 in Viborg.  The couple lived and farmed in the Viborg area before moving to rural Rice where they continued farming until 1946.  During that time, Verda was an active member of the Graham United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Womens Society of World Services.  Verda also worked at Fingerhut and was a 4-H leader.  The couple moved to Foley in 1962.  They belonged to the First Presbyterian Church where she was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher, was involved in the women's group and bible study.  Verda enjoyed knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking and also liked fishing and camping with Ellsworth. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
She is survived by her children; Marilyn (Bob) Hendricks, Foley; Samuel (Cheryl) Anderson, Waite Park; Jan (Bud) Burger, Bemidji; Virginia (Robert) Vizenor, Lakeville; Verdell (Joan) Anderson, Park Rapids; Marcia (David) Brunn, Hudson, WI; 15 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren, brother, James (Ruth) Christensen, Sioux Falls, sister-in-law, Gladys Anderson, Montevideo and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ellsworth, brothers, Gifford, Delmar, Rowell; sisters, Winifred Eichhorn and Garnet Johnson, daughter-in-law, Rosemary Anderson and great grandsons, Jack Henry Burger and Samuel Lynch.
