Selmer J. Holter, age 97, of Foley, MN, died Monday, November 28, 2011 in Mora with his family at his side.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Glendorado Lutheran Church, Glendorado, MN. The Rev. Barb Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and 1 hour before services at the church. Prayer services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Selmer Holter was born May 20, 1914 in Glendorado Twp., Benton Co., MN to Gilbert and Christine (Sorenson) Holter. He married Lois Shapansky March 24, 1937 at Glendorado Lutheran Church. He had lived and farmed most of his life in Glendorado. He also worked at Franklin Mfg. and installed underground telephone cables. He enjoyed woodworking (which included many birdhouses and woodpeckers), fishing and traveling. Selmer had served on numerous boards, including; school, township and church. He was a member of Glendorado Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his sons and daughters, Gordon (Judy), Houston, MN; Duane (Helen), Mora, MN; Janice (Sherman) Anderson, Princeton, MN; Phyllis (Richard) Brunn, Osseo, MN; Marilyn (Cecil) Graham, Bena, MN; Nancy (Doug) Andresen, Bena, MN; Linda Holter, Grand Rapids, MI; 26 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Esther Schendzielos, Clear Lake, MN; Alice Gould, Napa, CA; Doris Harputer, Kasson, MN; Murial Armstrong, Plymouth, MN; daughter-in-laws, Mavis Holter, Milaca, MN and Diane Holter, Foreston, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, June 26, 2007; sons, Dale, 1961, Ronald, 2000, Bob, 2008; 4 grandchildren; and sisters and brother, Gladys Moore, Hilda Pope, Eileen Wilke, Lilla Schindler and Desmond Holter.
