Sawyer Ben Amundson, age 20 of Foley died Friday, June 14, after a courageous 3-year battle with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
Services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday June 17, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Foley. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.
Sawyer was born on April 20, 1993 and lived his entire life in rural Foley. He loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiling and hunting. Sawyer graduated from Foley High School in 2011 and shorlty thereafter met the love of his life, Kayla Koenig. On May 18, 2013 the were united in marriage.
Sawyer is survived by his wife, Kayla Koenig-Amundson; father, Brent, mother, Agel Amundson (Henry Mehr); sister, Mackenzie, grandparents; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bennis Bruns and his uncle, Todd Bruns.
Special thanks to the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital, Quiet Oaks Hospice House, so many others who helped care for Sawyer in some way, and his home health nurse, Lona. Memorials are preferred.
