Ruth Swenson Pickett, age 90

February 20, 1920 - April 14, 2011

Burial services will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Foley on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., September 20, 2011.

Ruth Swenson Pickett was born February 20, 1920 and died April 14, 2011 at the age of 90. She was known for most of her life by her nickname, Chad. She was an avid traveler and had a passion for books. She had an acute intellect and was a duplicate bridge Life Master. She grew up in Foley with her adoptive parents, Emery W. Swenson and Katherine (Kate) Hall Swenson. Her father, Emery Swenson, was Benton County's District Attorney for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Kate, by her sister Katherine (Kay) Ritchie, by her husband of 42 years, Theodore (Ted) Chapman Pickett and by her most beloved friend, Taffy.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mary (Hollis) Pickett, her nephews Steve (Connie) Ritchie, Tom (Kristen) Ritchie and niece Kati Ritchie, as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces. She was a wonderful mother and friend and she will be deeply missed.
