Richard Balder, age 88, of Foley, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Foley Nursing Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. The Rev. Anthony Criscitelli T.O.R. will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 Monday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Arrangements were made  by the Foley Funeral Home.
Richard Balder was born June 1, 1925 in St. George Township, Benton Co. to George and Mary 'Mayme' (Doyle) Balder.  He married  Elaine Dziuk on June 22, 1948 at St. John's Catholic Church.  Richard lived most of his life in St. George Township, Benton Co. He worked for both the Benton County Auditor and Assessor Office until his retirement in 1988.  He enjoyed woodworking and volunteered to fix sewing machines for many people.  Richard and Elaine were very proud of their family and would have celebrated  65 years of marriage on June 22.  He was a charter member and very active in the Foley Area CARE.  Richard will be fondly remembered by many for his musical ability and beautiful voice, having sung at many funerals and wedding celebrations.  He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, Foley sons and daughters; Gerry (Lorri), Cottage Grove; Richelle (Gary) Jader, Lake Elmo; Tim (Mary), Stillwater; Maurice (Traci), Foley; Collette (Tim) Miller, Shoreview; Pat (Candace Wruck), Maple Grove; 18 grandchildren and sisters, Terese Weis, Clear Lake and Jeanette Kasner,  Foley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Mary Ellen, sister, Kathleen Winkelman and brother, Clifford.
