Norman Kachmarek of Foley, MN and formerly of Elk River, MN, died Wednesday October 5, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. The Rev. Dan Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Foley American Legion, Post 298.

Friends may call from one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Norman Kachmarek was born August 7, 1935 in Glendorado Township, Benton Co., MN to Edwin and Sara (Fernholz) Kachmerak. He married Janet Jenson on May 21, 1960 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm, MN. The couple lived and worked in Elk River for nearly 40 years before moving to Foley. Norm worked at Minneapolis Electric Steel. He enjoyed fishing, all sports and camping with his family and friends. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, Foley, MN; sons and daughters; Laurie (Mark) Nicolai, Osseo, MN; Diane (Bob) Burich, Champlin, MN; Sharon (Matt) Stephens, Coon Rapids, MN; Kathy (John) Brasher, Texas; Kevin (Lisa), Monticello, MN; Robert (Micaela), Montrose, MN and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Kaufmann and an infant brother, Larry.
