Mary A. Pekarek, age 98, of Foley, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Foley Nursing Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville. The Rev. Leo Moenkedick will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Parish prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements were made  by the Foley Funeral Home.
Mary Pekarek was born March 22, 1915 in St. Stephen, MN to Andrew and Agnes (Bicek) Legatt.  She married James Pekarek on July 20, 1954 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church.  She was a life long resident of the Foley area.  Mary enjoyed gardening and baking and was famous for her raised donuts.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her son, Henry (Sue) Pekarek of Foley, 3 grandchildren, Kim (Jon) Lyon, Kenny and Richard and step-grandchildren, Madison Lyon and McKinzie Lyon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James, July 14, 1993, grandson, Stephen and brothers and sister, Pete, Stanely, Martin, Sr. Agnetta Legatt, O.S.B and special aunt, Katarina Bicek.
