Mary Lou Hobson was born March 15, 1932 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Frings) Meemken. Mary Lou had a "passion for fashion" and enjoyed her earlier career working as a store clerk at Lad N' Lassie in Little Falls; Fandels; The Vogue and Norbys of St. Cloud. Mary Lou would often speak fondly of her youthful career as a singer in a country and western group called the Minnesota Ramblers, where she met her first husband, Jerry (married August 12, 1950 in St. Stephen, MN), a guitar player who recruited her not only into the band, but his heart and life. She and Jerry resided in Waite Park, MN, later moving to Little Falls, MN, where they owned and operated the cab office, and resided there from 1953-1967 before moving to Sauk Rapids, MN after Jerry took a job with the Sauk Rapids Police Dept. She then left the city and relocated to the Hobson Hobby Farm located north of Foley after marrying Bob Hobson (March 20, 1982 at the 1st Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud), and resided there from 1984 until her death. Mary Lou enjoyed her garden, sewing and cross stitching, music, travel, reading and socializing with family, friends and neighbors. She cared deeply for her family, extended family, children and grandchildren. She loved the Lord, read her bible and could be found daily listening to radio bible programs, and served her churches faithfully, always giving of herself and volunteering countless hours laboring on church banners and serving on mission trips.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, Hillman, MN; sons and daughter, Ron (Linda) Buersken, Albany, MN; Tom (Janet) Buersken, Royalton, MN; Rick (Mary) Buersken, Brainerd, MN; Deb Sherwood, St. Cloud, MN; step-children, Cathy Christianson, Ogden, IA; Ellis (Pam), Riceville, IA; Bruce, Protivin, IA; and Patty Teville, Austin, MN; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; and 25 great step-grandchildren; brother, Archie (Regina) Meemken, Melrose, MN; sister-in-law, Darlene (Tom), Richmond, VA; Mary Meemken, Ft. Collins, CO; and Judy Meemken, St. Joseph, MN; and by way of her second marriage to Bob; sister-in-law, Ruth (Ron) Holm, Sarasota, FL; Betty (Pete) Kearns, Palmetto, FL; brothers-in-law, John (Lola) Hobson, Danville, IA; and Bill (Diane) Hobson, Marshalltown, IA.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Jerry Buersken, brothers, Sylvester, Cyril, Delbert, Laverne, Milton and Henry Jr. Mary Lou had a servant's heart and will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know her and be touched by her endless love, care and compassion.
