March 15, 1925 - March 29, 2012

Martin J. Tomporowski, age 87, of Foley, MN, died Thursday March 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville, MN. The Rev. Leo Moenkedick will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at church in Brennyville and 1 hour before services on Monday. The Fr. Pierz Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand Honor Guard from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m. followed by the Knight's of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Martin Tomporowski was born March 15, 1925 in Alberta Twp., Benton Co., MN to Warren and Rosella (Krawiecki) Tomporowski. He married Donna Emslander on November 14, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids, MN. He had lived and farmed in Alberta Township, Morrison County most of his life. He had also worked as a bartender in Ronneby and at the Foley Liquor Store. He worked construction with his brother, William and worked on the churches in both Gilman and Brennyville. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. He was a member of Brennyville softball team and loved to pitch horseshoes; was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where he was an usher; was on the FHA Board; member of the Foley Sportman Club; charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Marty Council #3606 and member of the Fr. Pierz 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Martin was also an officer for the Benton County Farmers Union and past Supervisor and Assessor of Alberta Township.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, Foley, MN; daughters, Jeannie (Jerry) Rajkowski, Foley, MN; Joan (Daniel) Ziwicki, Foley, MN; Carol (Allan Schyma) Cheney, Baudette, MN; Kathryn (Dennis) Tetens, Henning, MN; Mary Tomporowski (Rahul Diesk), Half Moon Bay, CA; Teresa (Fred) Lentner, Foley, MN; Diane (Mike) Barringer, Rice, MN; sisters, Florence Radford, St. Paul, MN; Rita Johnson, Foley, MN; and Rosemary Lubbesmeyer, Burnsville, MN; 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Clotilde Jedlicki, Lorraine Pintok and brother, William, grandson, Robert Cheney and great grandson, Josuah Rajkowski.
