Marlene  Holewa age 80 of Foley, died Friday, December 22, 2017 from complications of the devastating disease, Alzheimer's.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Brennyville.  Rev. Leo Moenkedick will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Foley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.   Parish Prayers will be at 5 PM Tuesday evening.   Burial will be in the Parish cemetery.  Service with Dignity provided by Foley Funeral Home.
Marlene Louise (Schraut) Holewa was born April 14, 1937 in Lastrup, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Lust) Schraut.  She was joined into marriage to Henry Holewa on May 6, 1957 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morrill.  Throughout her life, Marlene was a farm wife and also worked for; Gilbert Shirt Factory; St. Cloud Hospital; Foley Public Schools and the Grand Casino, Mille Lacs.  Marlene like playing cards and bingo and enjoyed going to garage sales, always searching through recipes looking for that special dish or treat.  She was a hat and cap collector and was rarely seen not wearing one.  Marlene was a member of the Hillman VFW Woman's Auxiliary, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The Holewa family would like to thank the Foley Nursing Center for their care of Marlene over the last 3 years and 2 months.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Henry of Foley; children:  Carol (Tim) Ranweiler of Foley, Karen (Doug) Schibonski of St. Francis, Glenn (Georgia) Holewa of Foley, and Kevin Holewa of Foley; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; siblings:  LeRoy Schraut, Roger Schraut, Mark Schraut, and Mary Schafer; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph; and a sister, Joanne Schraut.
