Margaret Helmin, age 87, of Garrison Township, passed away peacefully at her home on December 25, 2017.  Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Margaret will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bulldog Lake.  Rev. David Forsman will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Foley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery, Brennyville.  Service with Dignity provided by Foley Funeral Home.

Margaret Rose Helmin was born January 16, 1930 in Alberta Township, Benton County, Minnesota the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Zulawski) Stachowski.  She graduated from Foley High School and went on to attend college at St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, Morris.  On July 27, 1948, Margaret was united in marriage with Edwin Helmin at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Brennyville.  The couple farmed and operated the Brennyville and Rum River Stores for many years.  She also worked for Tri-Cap and Green Thumb.  She was a past member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Bulldog Lake.  Margaret shared her faith for many years as a teacher for religious education and choir member singing for many church events.  She loved quilting and sharing her handy work with others.  Most of all, Margaret cherished her family and spending time with them.

Margaret is survived by her children:  David (Ruth) of Foley, William (Janet) of Foley, James (Kathy) of Brainerd, Robert (Sue) of Clear Brook, Jeffrey (Gayle) of Pepin, WI, Rebecca (Mark) Hanson of Foley, Sally (Duane) Cielinski of Hillman, and Nancy Helmin of Hillman; 37 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Doris Stachowski; as well as many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; granddaughter, Mary Margaret Helmin; great-granddaughter, Allison Rose Helmin; brothers, Arthur and Henry Stachowski; sister, Irene Moxness; brother-in-law, John Moxness; and sister-in-law, Dodie Stachowski.
