Leonard Latterell - 90

Foley, Minnesota

Leonard Latterell, age 90, of Foley, Minnesota died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the St. Cloud Hospital., St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. The Rev. Robert Kieffer will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 Friday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. St. John's Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 p.m. followed by Foley Knight's of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Pierz Assembly 4th Degree Knight's of Columbus will stand Honor Guard from 5 to 8 p.m. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, Minnesota.

Leonard Latterell was born January 14, 1920 in St. George Township, Benton County, Minnesota to William and Elizabeth (Dziuk) Latterell. He married Phyllis Trunk June 15, 1943 at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Princeton, Minnesota and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2000. He married Dolores Levendowski August 22, 2003 in Cross Lake. He lived and farmed all of his life in St. George Township, Benton County. Leonard sold seed corn and grass seed for many years and raised Holstein Dairy cows in which he was recognized for the top producing dairy herd in Benton Co. for many years. He was the recipient of the MN Star Farmer of the Year and also worked at the Benton ASCS Office; owned and operated Latterell Insurance; sold cemetery monuments and will be fondly remembered for selling Christmas Trees for 61 years. Leonard was proactive in the conservation world and was a member and past board member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and the Foley Sportsmen Club, where he was past president. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Leonard was a member of the Foley Lions Club; Crosier Apostolate; Fr. Pierz Assembly 4th Degree Knight's of Columbus, Foley Knight's of Columbus, Bishop Marty #3603 and St. John's Catholic Church. Leonard was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores, Foley, MN; sons and daughters, Rich (Jeanette), Yuma, AZ; Bob (DeDe), Cold Spring, MN; Joyce (Alan) Lewandowski, Austin, TX; Nancy (Ricky) Goettl, Brooklyn Park, MN; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Eunice Cross, Tom, Jim, Bill, all of Foley, MN and MaryJo LaVigne, Clear Lake, MN.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lucille Ruhoff, Irene Graham, Norb, Dave and Cecil.
