Karen Opp was born April 25, 1942 in Canby, Minnesota to Irving and Pearl (Miller) Christianson. She grew up in Piere, SD. She had worked as a medical transcriptionist. Karen loved working with flowers. She collected seeds each year; planted the seeds, and tended to them as they grew and became beautiful flowers. She loved being with her grandchildren when we would drop them off, they would all yell, "time to party!" They would sit around the fire and roast marshmallows, go to parks for picnics, sit and watch movies, and just spend time with each other. They all were very close with their grandma Karen. Each year before Christmas, they would all get together and make gifts for their mom's. she made it to almost every basketball game that Samantha had and could ber heard in the crowd screaming for her! She tried to make it to all of the grandkids activities to cheer them on. She was so proud of each of them and loved them unconditionally. Every year Jolen (Connor), Jen and Jon (Alexander, Kayla and Samantha) would go to a apple orchard and get pumpkins and apples. We would then come home, carve pumpkins and make apple pies for the upcoming holidays. Her greatest achievements were the impact she had on others. The true love and grace that she showed to everyone, she made sure that everyone she came into contact with, knew they were loved. She was a gift to us all.
She is survived by her daughters, Jolene Mattson, Princeton, MN; Jennifer (Jon) Dombovy, Foley, MN; 4 grandchildren, Alexander, Kayla, Samantha and Connor; 4 step-grandchildren, Shane, Samantha, Bryan and Dakotah; brothers and sisters, Charlotte Radomski, Chris Christianson, Romona Millar, Roger Christianson, Mary Meister and Peggy Hine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Troy and a sister, Janice Jackson.
