John A. Pohl, age 88, of Foley, died Friday July 1, 2011 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville, MN. The Rev. Aaron Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in the White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, MI. Military honors will be by the Foley American Legion.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

John Pohl was born October 24, 1922 in Lakin Twp., Morrison Co.,MN to Walter and Mary (Daleiden) Pohl. He was a WW II Navy Veteran serving from 1944 - 1946. He married Lois Pattock in 1951 and she preceded him in death. He farmed in Lakin Township until 1955 and moved to Ferndale, MI, where he worked for Aircraft Precision Products until his retirement in 1978. He married Bridget Byzewski Emmerson in 1986 and she preceded him in death in 1993 He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Bishop Marty Council 3603 and a member of the Foley American Legion Post 298.

He is survived by his daughters and son, Sharon (Dennis) Potrzuski, Diane (Gary) Kress, Nancy (Jim) McChesney, Katie (Dennis) Kopitz, Alan (Kathy) Pohl, grandchildren, Anne, Lisa, Laura, Kelsey, Mitchell, Cydney, Eric, Calvin and Andrea; sister, Lydia (ken) Bozych, special family, longtime companion, Sylvia Deppa and family, Janet (Mike) Riedeman, JoAnn (Lloyd) Jedlicki, Donnie (Vikki) Deppa, Marlys (Bruce) Lechner and Norman, David, Brent, Janell, Jared, Tammy, Lydia and Lindsey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Pohl, brothers, Nicholas, Donald and Norman.
