Janet Secord, age 74, of Foley, MN, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley, MN. The Rev. Daniel Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Janet Secord was born June 2, 1938 in Gilman, MN to Vincent and Celestine (Schueller) Ratka. She married Alden Secord on October 7, 1957 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, MN. The couple lived most of their lives in the Foley area. Janet worked for Primerica Financial Services for many years. Janet also sold Home Interiors and Gifts for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and spending time with her family. Janet volunteered countless hours for the religious education program at St. John's Catholic Church, was a 4-H Leader and belonged the St. John's Christian Mother's. Janet had a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Alden, Foley, MN, sons and daughters; Debbie (Daniel) Hennek, Foley, MN; Barbara (Fritz) Hoffmann, South Haven, MN; Susan Secord, Minneapolis, MN; Mary (Jerry) Orth, Clearwater, MN; Wayne (fiance, Dorothy Jackels), St. Cloud, MN; Paul (Erin), Avon, MN; Sharon (Doni) Martin, Foley, MN; and 19 grandchildren; brothers, Vincent Ratka Jr., Minneapolis, MN; Jim Ratka, Gilman, MN; sister, Frances Tadych, Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tony Ratka
