Graig Alan Legatt was born June 28, 1984 in St. Cloud, Minnesota the son of Alvin and Mary Jo (Pekarek) Legatt. He graduated from Foley High School in 2002 and went on to achieve a Bachelor's Degree from St. Cloud State (2007) and Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota (2011). During his time as a student, Graig spent many weekends doing chores at Uncle Frank's farm, helping make wood at Grandma Pekarek's and helped with the family jewelry store many Christmas seasons. Graig loved science and was very talented in it. He studied bio-chemistry at the University of MN and was working on his PhD when he became ill and continued instead with full-time work. He was most recently employed at Ecolab in Eagan as a lab technician and previously worked at SMC in Somerset, WI as lab manager. Graig was dedicated to his financial commitments to school and enjoyed staying busy, so in addition to full-time employment, he also chose to work at Wal-Mart. Graig was passionate about nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed watching animals, camping, playing softball and basketball, spending time at the library, playing cards with family, and the simplicity of driving with the windows down and eating milk and cookies. He was responsible, hard-working, incredibly intelligent, and helpful towards others despite his own needs.
Graig is survived by his parents, Alvin & Mary Jo of Gilman; sisters: Jessica Legatt of Crown Point, IN and Melinda Legatt of Schaumburg, IL; brothers: Jeremy Legatt of Foley and Nathan Legatt of Rochester; nieces: Maliha, Mariam, Asiyah and Sarah Zaidi and nephew Hanan Hatim all of Chicago.
