Gert Stauffenecker, age 86, of Foley, MN, died Sunday January 2, 2011 at the Foley Nursing Center, Foley, MN.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, Foley. The Rev. Tim Wittwer will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside Lutheran Cemetery, Ronneby, MN.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and 1 hour before services at church. Prayer services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.
Gertrude Stauffenecker was born December 31, 1924 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to Nicholas and Agnes (Poster) Miller. In her early years, Gert worked in Minneapolis, MN for a time and then returned to the Morrill, MN area and worked at Gotvalds Store where she met Elmer. She married Elmer on June 30 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morrill. They moved to the family farm where the couple farmed side by side for many years, raising their family and where she still resided until her recent stay at Heritage of Foley. She had also worked at the meat department at Coborns in Foley, retiring after 23 years. She made a lot of friends and never met a stranger. Gert was a very strong, outgoing and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed and loved always.
She is survived by her sons, Dwight (Pam), Foley, MN; Lonnie, Foley, MN; daughter-in-law, Shirley Miller, Silver Bay, MN; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Lucille Brewer, Hot Springs, CA; Helen Miller, WI; Marion Miller, Foley, MN; and Coral Miller, Andover, MN; nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, son, Roger, daughter-in-law, Anita; and granddaughter, Lindsey; brothers, Norris, Martin, Harold and Jerome Miller; sisters, Olivia Zablocki, Geraldine Ruckert Owens, Esther Strand and Margaret Foss Baumert. A special thanks to Pastor Tim Wittwer and the Heritage of Foley Nursing Staff.
