Gerald Scapanski, age 78, of Mayhew Lake, died Friday January 14, 2011 at the Foley Nursing Center, Foley, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Mayhew Lake, MN. The Rev. Tim Wenzel will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 hour before the service at the church on Wednesday Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Gerald Scapanski was born July 21, 1932 in Mayhew Lake Twp., Benton Co., MN to Emil and Anna (Goltz) Scapanski. He married Carol Juetten November 14, 1974. He had lived and farmed in Mayhew Lake. His passion was farming and he also liked to fish. Gerald was a member of Mayhew Lake Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, Foley, MN; sons and daughter, Jason (Chrissy), Ft. Campbell, KY; Scott, Foley, MN; Nick, Foley, MN; Amy (Pat) Herbst, Foley, MN; and 3 grandchildren, Katie, Garrett and MacKenzie Scapanski; brother and sisters, Jerome, Foley, MN; Addy Bastianelli, Eveleth, MN; Maryann Lawrence, S. St. Paul, MN; and Arlene Seppelt, OH; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Art, Donald and Norbert and sister, Florence Manuel; and nephews, John and Ronnie Scapanski.
