Gerald Gombos, age 80, of Foley, MN, died Friday March 4, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Mass of Chirstian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley, MN. The Rev. Robert Kieffer will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and 1 hour before services at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Gerald Gombos was born March 30, 1930 in Alberta Twp., Benton Co., MN to John and Veronica (Pietrowski) Gombos. He married Alice Boos June 7, 1955 at St. John's Catholic Church in Foley, MN. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran during the Korean War. He worked at the paper mill in the cities and had lived in Brennyville, MN, working for Tom O'Rourke, Larson Ford and later the Foley School bus garage. He had also drove school bus for Foley. Gerald had worked as a part-time bartender at the Foley American Legion and the Officer Bar in St. Cloud. He retired at 65. He liked fishing, hunting and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grand-kids and great grand-kids. He was a member of the Foley American Legion Post 258 for over 50 years and also member of St. John's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, Foley, MN; sons and daughters, Janet (Bill) Helmin, Foley, MN; Linda (Butch) Belair, Princeton, MN; Mark (Debbie), Foley, MN; Joyce (Steve) Coleman, Sauk Rapids, MN; Jay, St. Stephen,MN; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Flatten, Monticello, MN; and Geraldine Helmin, Gilman, MN; and brother-in-law, Jerry Cielinski, Clear Lake, MN.

He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Mary, and sisters, Dorothy Moulzolf and Pat Cielinski.
