George Tischbirek age 64 returned peacefully to his Father in Heaven on October 6, 2013 at his home in Clear Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm.  The Rev. Virgil Helmin will officiate.  Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sauk Rapids VFW Post, 6992.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 Wednesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Parish Prayers will be at 5 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Arrangements were made  by the Foley Funeral Home.
George Tischbirek was born January 15, 1949 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to George and Lucille (Kampa) Tischbirek Sr.  He married Cheryl Wojciechowski on August 2, 1975 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Foreston.  He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968-1974.  He was a lifetime member of the Sauk Rapids VFW Post, 6992 and was a member of the Duelm Knight's of Columbus.  George worked at the St. Cloud Water Utilities as an Instrumental Technician for 31 years until his retirement in 2007.  On the weekends he enjoyed cooking at Jack and Jim's, particularly the prime rib.  George also had a passion for flying.  He obtained his pilot's license before he could even drive.  In his retirement, he spent countless hours flying and repairing planes at Leader's Airport in  Clear Lake and the St. Cloud Airport.  The family would like to thank the Coborns Cancer Center, especially the chemotherapy nurse, Lynn and the Care Coordinator, Debbie Corrigan for their support and encouragement through his two-year journey with lung  cancer.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Poor Clares Monastery; 421 4th Street South, Sauk Rapids, MN 56379.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, Clear Lake; mother, Lucille of Sauk Rapids; son and daughters; Greg (Lisa), Foley; Jen Tischbirek & (Steve Thomasen), St. Paul; Becky (Peter) Mullin, St. Augusta and granddaughter, Hannah Klein.  He was preceded in death by his father George Sr. and brother, Roger.
