Fred M. Mazacek, age 60, of Foley, MN, died Tuesday February 15, 2011 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm, MN. The Rev. Bernard Kahlhamer will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and 1 hour before services at church. Parish prayers will be 5 p.m. and Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Fred Mazacek was born July 11, 1950 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Gust and Ellen (Victor) Mazacek. He married Joan Juetten on May 1, 1971 at St. John's Catholic Church in Foley. He graduated from the Foley High School in 1969 and worked for Kirchoff Construction from 1969-1970; Herbst Construction from 1970-1971; Brenny Oil Co., from 1971-1972; and Benton County Highway Department from 1972 until his retirement on January 3, 2011. He also worked for Granite City Ready Mix for over 10 years. Fred was a member of the Foley Fire Department from 1976-1991. He played in several bands including the Country Stooges; Big D's and Movin On. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren at special events. He enjoyed watching drag racing, camping and woodworking. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm, and was an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Joan, Foley, MN; sons and daughters, Lori (Keith) Landowski, Foley, MN; Tom (Sally), Foley, MN; Michelle (Richard) Chmielewski, Foley, MN; Tina (Beau) Helmin, Gilman, MN; Tara (Darren) Roiger, St. Cloud, MN; 14 grandchildren; 3 brothers and a sister and a sister-in-law; and a father-in-law, John Juetten, Hillman, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mike and mother-in-law, Ann, December 15, 2010.
