Dolores Kelash, age 84, of Foley, MN, passed away April 14, 2011 surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter, Renee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Brennyville, MN. The Rev. Dan Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, MN and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home in Foley. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.
Dolores Kelash was born February 17, 1927 in Graham Twp., Benton Co., MN to John and Mary (Tadych) Jurek Sr. She married Stephen Kelash on January 20, 1948 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Brennyville. Dolores and Stephen farmed and raised 12 children in Granite Ledge Township. The couple had operated the Granite Ledge Store for several years. She enjoyed gardening including flowers, canning & baking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. Her faith was very important to her and had a love for the rosary.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, Maxine (John) House, Elk River, MN; Lynette (Alvin) Nelson, Foreston, MN; Stephen Jr. (Pam), Rice, MN; Keith (Lorrie), Rice, MN; Cheryl (Greg) Gangl, Buckman, MN; Lyle (Jean), Foley, MN; Renee (Arnie) Popp, Rice, MN; Alan (Carol), Foley, MN; Dana (Brian) Stangl, Buckman, MN; Gary (Jeannie), Foley, MN; son-in-law, Allan Ficek, Sobieski, MN; 48 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Justin, Ramey; Roy, Pierz, MN; Jacob, Foreston, MN; John Jr., Foreston, MN; Martha Engesether, Portland, OR; Theresa Spiczka, Gilman, MN; Jeanette Pappenfus, Waite Park, MN; and Mary Ann Wahlberg, Princeton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, October 2, 2002; daughters, Gail Ficek and Myra Kelash, sisters Margaret Dahler, Katherine Lentner and infant brother and sister, Benjamin and Bernice.
