Bertha E. Funt, age 93, of Ramey died Saturday April 28, 2012 at the Foley Nursing Center, Foley.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Ramey. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Morrill, MN.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and 1 hour before services at church. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home, Foley, MN.

Bertha Funt was born September 20, 1918 in Fallon, Montana to Ed and Mable (Nelson) Sterr. She married Clifford Funt February 11, 1937 in Little Falls She had been a life long resident of the Ramey area. Bertha raised 6 children, loved to garden, sewed many, many quilts, cooked, baked and canned. No one ever left her house hungry. Everyone of her grandchildren remembers Bertha's chocolate chip cookies and barbeque and rice hot dish, known as the funeral hot dish to the family. As a child she often stayed for long periods of time with her grandparents, helping with cooking and cleaning. She was left with her grandparents in Montana at the age of 9 and stayed there for a year when the rest of the family came back to Minnesota after her mother passed away. Before her marriage, she worked for Eddy's Resort, cleaning cabins and cleaned many of the homes in the Ramey area. This is how she met Clifford. She worked beside Clifford, milking cows and feeding the calves. She was a pioneering woman who went from working with horses as she herded the sheep for her dad as a child, to driving tractors with her husband, planting and harvesting. She truly believed she was put on this earth to work and loved every minute of it. She was an active member of the ladies aid and Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a strong woman.

She is survived by her sons, Dean (Sharon), Pierz, MN; Keith (Monica), Pierz, MN; son-in-law, Tom Skomra, Minneapolis, MN; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Inez, Minneapolis, MN; Marion, Foley, MN; and Coral, St. Frances, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, daughters and son, Lorraine Skomra, George (Phyllis), Calda Midthun and Gordon, infant granddaughter, brothers and sisters, Elsie, Ruth, Audrey, Helen, Dave, Frank and Clyde.
