'Jim' Nelson in 1949.  They farmed south of St. Cloud until purchasing their farm just west of Foley in 1958.  Raising and showing quarter horses and palominos was Betty's life long passion.  She was a past secretary of MN Palomino Horse Exibition, and a 4-H project leader and Pioneer 4-H leader for many years.  Betty was the past director of the Benton County Fair Board, and announced and judged horse shows at the fair for much of her life.  She also loved to knit and was known for the beautiful sweaters, hats, and afghans she made for her family, friends and church.  She was also famous for the unique frosted rosettes she made every Christmas.  She was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Foley.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Colbert, eleven nieces and nephews, and neighbors, Jessica Pierce, Quentin Wahl, and their parents, Theresa and Dennis, who she loved like family.  She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard Colbert Jr. and Douglas Colbert.
