Josephine Hess, age 98 of Foley, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Foley Nursing Center.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM , Saturday, March 18, 2017 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Leo Moenkedick will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. 
   Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Parish Prayers will be held at 5:00 PM Friday.  
   Josephine Frances (Albright) Hess was born June 7, 1918 in Gilmanton Township, Benton County to Anthony and Catherine (Przybytek) Albright. She married Clemence Hess on November 3, 1937 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Josephine lived and farmed all her life in Gilmanton Township.  She loved baking, cooking, needle work, bingo, playing cards,  trips to the casino, old time music, dancing and praying the rosary. She was a wonderful caretaker and helped many people.  She always had a hot cup of coffee and something to eat for anyone who visited.   Josephine always said, "When we are born there is a candle lit in heaven and when we die, it goes out." She was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. 
   She is survived by her children:  Evie (Robert) Dumonceaux of St. Joseph, Charlene  Lewandowski of Foley, and Ronald (Leslie) of Foley; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren;  sister, Jean of St. Cloud ; and brother-in-law, Charles Ringler of Sauk Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerome and daughter-in-law, Norma; son-in-law, Albin Lewandowski; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
