Harold “Harry’ Herbst, age 63 of Litchfield died Oct. 3, 2017. Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm with Father Robert Harren officiating. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Service with Dignity provided by Foley Funeral Home.
Harold John Herbst was born April 24, 1954 in St. Cloud to Edmund and Alma (Henry) Herbst. He graduated from Foley High School in 1972 and attended St. Cloud State University. On November 23, 1974 he was united into marriage to Anna Garceau at St. John's Catholic Church, Foley. Harry worked for Holes-Webway for several years before co-owning Harbound Industries. He currently owned and operated Quality Cover, St. Cloud.
Harry enjoyed camping and nature, biking & canoeing trips with Anna. Faith was important to Harry as was his love of family and grandchildren. He was very instrumental in guiding his children in their professional world. He was known for his great work ethic and excelled in life with a positive attitude. He was an avid sports fan including football, wrestling and track. Harry was a four-year starter at middle linebacker for the St. Cloud State Huskies and also coached the Foley girls track team. He also enjoyed a competitive game of cards.
He is survived by his wife, Anna, Litchfield; sons and daughter; Rob (Karen), Buffalo; Michelle (Tommy) Udermann, Foley; Charlie, Portland, Maine; Dan, Spring Park and grandchildren; Owen, Kiley, Aiden, Joseph and Jacob and brothers and sisters; Judy (Bernie) Winkelman, Foley; Alan (Sandra), Sartell; Kathy (John) Rahm, Foley; Don (Barb), Foley; JoAnn (Kevin) Winkelman, Foley and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Alma Herbst and mother and father-in-law, Paul and Sheila Garceau and infant children, Cecelia and Michael.
